Trialing Overview

If you're thinking about participating in obedience trials and would like to know how they work, here is a quick run-down.

  • A pass is a score of 170 or more out of a possible 200 for all levels
except CCD where a pass is a score of 70 out of a possible 100
  • Points are deducted for imperfections in performance.
  • You must get 3 passes under 2 different judges to achieve a title
and move to the next level.
  • The levels are: CCD, Novice, Open and Utility (UD for short) and UDX.
  • Passes at each of these levels achieve the following titles respectively:
Community Companion Dog (CCD), Companion Dog (CD), Companion Dog Excellent (CDX), Utility Dog (UD), Utility Dog Excellence (UDX).
  • After the UD title is achieved you can go on to Obedience Champion (O.Ch).
To gain this you need a further 5 passes in the UD ring with a score of 185 or more,
    under 3 different judges.
